She Will Always Be Twenty-nine

By John Webb

How could she be so beautiful, with that voice, those eyes, and the beauty of a queen

How could she be so beautiful, and she was only seventeen.

How did she pick me, what made her look my way, why did she want to spend her life with me

How could she be so beautiful and she was only seventeen.

She brought our children into the world and they knew her love was a special kind

How could she be so beautiful and she was only twenty-nine.

She loved us all and raised our joy even when we would think life as dark as a mine,

Her hair got a hint of gray, but she was still so beautiful and she was only twenty-nine.

As our own children had their babies she watched them grow and shine

How could she always be so beautiful and she was only twenty-nine.

And then without warning her time came to leave us and as we cried and said our last goodbye

As I saw her laying there, and I thought, how could she be so beautiful and she was only twenty-nine.
